6a00e54ef2b6e2883301156f2220f9970c-800wiWhat are your biggest sales turn off? Pushy salespeople in your face begging you to buy, buy, buy! However, they don’t offer anything valuable in return. They want you to buy the latest and greatest product but what’s the motivating factor? They don’t have one! As a result, people pass them over and won’t buy their products.

The following Internet marketing formula is the most effective six step plan to guaranteed SUCCESS!

Step 1: Distribute Content
Before you even ASK users to spend money on your products and services, you need to offer them something valuable. Would you buy products or services from someone you didn’t know anything about? Probably not!

The first step is to write informative content and distribute it through a variety of FREE marketing avenues including:

•    Video Marketing – People respond to “visual” content as opposed to just text – greater impact on audiences and put a face behind the name!

•    Article Marketing – By submitting to free article sites, people learn valuable information and want to read MORE information – a great way to brand yourself and put your name out there.

•    Social Networking Sites – One of the easiest ways to spread the word about your business to mass people. Sign up for Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc. Create niche groups or create your own networks to really draw in target markets that appeal to your industry.

•    Blogs – Stick to one niche/specialty and write interesting, informative posts that really capture subscribers’ attention. Blogs really make an impact by providing VALUABLE information and news. Blogs are another great way to position yourself as an expert in your field.

•    Forums – Online communities allow you to interact with other members in a “friendly, informal” way. Generate buzz and interest about your company, products and services by interacting with others in forums. However, don’t just join ANY forum – subscribe to forums that really hit your markets and audiences!

Step 2: Reel Them in with GREAT CONTENT
image1You caught their interest and you now have a captive audience. What do you do next? Invite them to check out more valuable content on your site. Some examples include:

•    Video Tutorials

•    How-To Articles

Step 3: Subscribe for MORE GREAT CONTENT
Now you REALLY have their interest! However, don’t go in for the kill and hit them with the “hard sale.”  You don’t want to scare them off!

Don’t try to entice with special offers either. Invite them to subscribe for more GREAT content (i.e. weekly newsletters, etc.)

Step 4: Send SUPERIOR CONTENT on a regular basis
image2Now it’s time to really WOW them with SUPERIOR CONTENT on an ongoing basis. Offer them something your competition doesn’t offer and make it GREAT!

•    Send late-breaking special reports filled with the most up-to-date news in your industry – stay one step ahead of your competition! Research your target markets and give them WHAT they want to read.

•    Be consistent with weekly newsletters and offer “real world” tips and information. Don’t talk down to your readers and keep the language simple and to the point.

Step 5: BUILD Relationships First THEN Offer Free Trials/Samples
Potential customers love your information you send on a regular basis. You’ve built a great relationship with them. NOW it’s time to offer them a free trial or sample.

Don’t give away too much though. You just want to give them a “teaser” of all the great products and services you offer.

Some examples might include:

•    10 minute phone consultation

•    Trial sample of products

•    Free half-hour DVD

Step 6: Customers Are Ready to Buy NOW!
image3At this final stage, your potential customers and clients have been given a “taste” of what you have to offer. They see REAL value in your content, products and services.

They trust you and like you – they know you are an expert in your field and not just another salesperson! They also appreciate the fact that you didn’t hound them every step of the way to BUY BUY BUY! You may have already landed new customers in the first few steps, but by Step 6 customers are ready to BUY NOW!

Just follow these six simple steps and watch your PROFITS grow. However, if you want guaranteed success, remember to take baby steps and OFFER value.  Build relationships FIRST and the sales will soon follow!

podcast_ctap_smallSteve Jobs is a smart guy. He was way ahead of the hi-tech game when he launched the iPod, Apple’s digital music player, in 2001. By 2007, 100 million units were shipped worldwide. Apple then introduced the iTouch and iPhone.

If you think about HOW many people own an iPod, iTouch or iPhone, that’s BILLIONS of people worldwide downloading music and podcasts. These iPod fanatics are also YOUR potential customers and clients. Four BILLION songs have been sold over the past four years!

How to Submit Podcasts
A podcast is a series of audio or video files that is released and made available for public downloading via web syndication.  If you haven’t considered creating podcasts to promote your products or services, it’s time to jump into the podcasting world. Podcasts don’t have to be elaborate productions – you can keep it as simple as audio. Check out the following podcast tips.

itunes1•    CREATE your podcast!

•    Select “Category” for podcast. The screen then displays metadata found in your feed.

•    Verify that ALL information is filled out correctly – make sure feed is generated properly before submitting

•    Once approved by iTunes (it usually takes a few days), they show up under the podcasts directory

•    You won’t be charged for podcast submissions – FREE to submit

itunes2Benefits of iTunes Podcast Marketing

•    Downloads are easily accessible 24,7 - EVERYONE has an iPod, iTouch or iPhone and can download podcasts off iTunes whenever they want.

•    Podcasts are portable – users download podcasts and listen to them while “on the go” (while commuting, at work, etc.)

•    Sends powerful messages – podcasts convey emotion and acts like a “ personal conversation” between customers and company.

•    Loyalty from subscribers - they like your podcasts, subscribes to MORE podcasts and you become a recognized “expert” in your field!

•    Appeals to a HUGE audience across the globe and hits all demographics and niches

•    Creates a viral marketing phenomenon – other users will tell other users about your podcasts!

•    Notifies subscribers of NEW podcasts – ensures your audience will NEVER miss your new podcast and makes it easy for them to always get updated information!

•    FREE - it doesn’t COST money to upload OR download podcasts on iTunes

•    Easy to publish podcasts (see above directions) – this saves you both TIME and MONEY!

facebook_picFacebook is one of the hottest social networking sites online. Facebook pages literally give companies a social networking “face.”  Facebook pages show off your company, products and services to MILLIONS of Facebook users across the world.

Why You Need a Facebook Page
You can create a “Fan” page for any topic, group, business profile etc. It’s almost like a virtual “meeting” place for your fans to gather, share information and interact. You are the administrator and oversee what is shown and shared on your “Fan” page.

• Formal web presence – highly visible to search engines

• Works like your personal profile but more interactive – send wall messages, add applications, etc.

• Unlimited number of fans - build “mailing lists” from fan base (NEW business contacts!)

• Company name recognition/branding

• Allows you to research demographics about your “fans” (target markets) – interests, profile information, etc.

• Allows you to customize pages - create events, start discussions, add video content, post polls, etc.

• Link to your blogs and websites (company promotions, etc.)

• Pages tend to get more followers than “Groups”

How to Create a Facebook Page
facebook1It’s simple and easy to create a Facebook page – as long as you know how to navigate the in’s and out’s of Facebook. You can save your marketing dollars because creating a Facebook account won’t cost you any money!

    1. Before you create a Facebook page, you need to sign up for a Facebook account.

    2. Log into your Facebook account and go to Create New Facebook Page

    3. Choose your “Category” (how your page will be shown up in Pages Directory)

    4. Then choose the “Name” of your page. Remember that your name is permanent and will show up in the search engines accordingly to the name you choose (and shows up within the URL of your page).

    5. Fill in the “Captcha Box” and you’re ready to go!

    6. You can also customize your page with RSS feeds, page information (details about your page), images/photos, etc. The more information you have on your page, the more attractive it LOOKS!

    7. Another trick is to choose a username that makes it easy for contacts to find you (you can also create your own). After you choose a  username, click on the link “Set a username for your Pages.” A blue dialogue box will open up with a dropdown menu of each page you created. You need at least 100 fans before you can create a “vanity URL.”

    8. Make your pages creative and interesting – think awareness and information – make people WANT to become a fan of your page (and to pass along your page to others!) People will only become a fan if your page really captures their attention!

How to Promote Your Facebook Page
facebook2Facebook basically does all the work for you – your page will be listed in its Pages Directory which makes it visible in the search engines.

You can also take a few extra steps to give your page an extra promotional boost:

    • Add your pages to other popular social networking sites such as Digg and Twitter

    • Remember to cross-promote your Facebook pages on email signatures, forums, blogs and website

fsimageresize1aspxWord of mouth marketing (WOM) gives people a reason to talk about your products and services. If you want to create a BUZZ, word of mouth marketing is the best way to promote your business.

WOM is the act of building strong consumer-to-consumer or consumer-to-marketer communications.  WOM also makes people want to talk about your company – you empower people and give them a voice. What better way to brand your business than to have others do the work and “spread the word”?

Basic Elements - Word of Mouth Marketing

wordofmouth•    Educates customers about products and services

•    Gives away freebies and prizes to customers

•    Transfers communicate message effortlessly between people and uses other’s resources and websites

•    Integrates common human behavior and motivations (i.e. the need to be popular, loved, happy, etc)

Don’t use WOM to fake out your customers – people aren’t fools and they deserve respect.  Remember to treat them with integrity and INTELLIGENCE!  Artificial WOM will only come back to haunt you and your reputation – stay away from deceptive and manipulative tactics!

Blog Viral Marketing – Explode Your Message to Millions
Blog viral marketing uses the same elements associated with WOM. Viral marketing is a promotional strategy that encourages people to pass along marketing strategies to others. Like a computer virus, “viral” marketing EXPLODES messages to millions of people across the world.

When it comes to viral marketing, it’s like a tiny pebble thrown in the water that causes a widespread ripple effect. You only need to make a small effort in order to see BIG results!

Benefits of Blog Viral Marketing
FREE – You don’t incur promotional costs – use other people’s FREE online resources and sites!

REACHES HUGE audience – People contact others for you and then they contact more people – experience “chain results” and watch your traffic and revenue increase!

BUILDS Reputation and Credibility – Since people are spreading the word about your blog, your company will gain credibility and earn a great online rep!

WordPress Tell a Friend Plugin – Spread the Word Quickly!
The most powerful tool used in viral marketing is the WordPress Tell a Friend plug in.
Tell a Friend is a FREE plugin added to blogs that allows users to pass along sites to other people.
wordpress•    Place “Tell a Friend” button on your blog and when blog visitors want to spread the word, they simply click the button and an email form pops up.

•    Visitors fill out the email forms and send out emails to their friends telling them about your blog – it’s that EASY!

Tell a Friend supports major free email providers (Hotmail, Yahoo, Google, etc). Log into your account and it pulls your address book instantly! Instead of sending out ONE email at a time, you can email hundreds of your contacts at a time.  HUGE exposure to your blog!

Additional Perks:
• You can add plugin to sidebar text, end of blog posts and/or your home page.

• When visitors click on widget button and email screen pops up, it doesn’t re-direct away from your blog.

• Tell a Friend scripts can also be used on e-commerce sites and to promote e-books.

online_community_globe

You just set up your brand new forum on vBulletin and you’re ready to take the online community by storm. So you have the forum ready to go, but where’s the traffic and members? A successful online community doesn’t happen overnight.

Your company can be on the online community map in no time IF you have powerful tools to build successful forums.

Build FAST! – No one wants to sign up for a forum that only has four members. You need to build your community FAST. Don’t launch marketing campaigns one-by-one – blast them out ALL at once and watch your membership GROW!

Choose ONE NICHE – Hone into a specific niche. Don’t choose broad niches such as “real estate agents.” You need a way for people to identify with your community. “Los Angeles real estate agents who sell to Hollywood celebrities” will reach more members compared to just “real estate agents.” By focusing on a specific niche, it’ll be easier to build your forum over time.

Make it EASY and CREATIVE for members to spread the word! – Offer freebies and giveaways for people who sign up the most members. This will get people’s attention fast and grow your community quickly. Be creative – don’t use the same email marketing gimmick everyone else uses. When people send invitations to five friends to sign up for your community, you won’t get far with “Please sign up to XYZ Forum.” Think outside the box: “John Doe answered the question – what’s so great about Sally Smith? Check out his answer today!

Keep it SIMPLE – Don’t clutter your site with unnecessary words and jargon. The fastest way to lose members (or potential members) is to have a site that’s not easy to navigate.

Add FACEBOOK – Facebook is the fastest-growing and hottest social networking site online. You are missing the social media boat if you ignore incorporating Facebook into your community. There are over 100 million users on Facebook – potential members for your site! Add viral applications that imports Facebook contacts so people spread the word quickly about your site.

people Attract POPULAR PEOPLE FIRST – Attract the leaders to your forum and the rest will follow! So how do you find those leaders? Think back to your high school days. The football players and cheerleaders were popular and drew the crowds. Use that type of strategy when you attract leaders to your forum. Invite college alumni star football players (maybe they went pro?) – for X amount of sign ups, offer a big party with free food featuring alumni football players.  FREE food offers will spread like wildfire and people will follow “star” ringleaders!

MODERATE your community – If your forum is jam-packed with spam, junk mail, and product promotions you will TURN OFF potential members. Take an active moderation role – stay on top of user requests, clean up abuses and keep forum topics on track.

SHOW ME THE MONEY! – If your forum isn’t making money, then you are merely dabbing with a “hobby”. If you are serious about making a profit, look into monetization programs. Work with companies to offer targeted products and services that  members will buy (and love!) Make your forum work for YOU!

Be ACTIVE – Don’t allow your community to become idle—a BIG mistake! Encourage activity and generate interest through contests that appeal to your niche. If you are appealing to college alumni football players, maybe an alumni beer mug or a picture with a bikini-clad model wearing their old football jersey might peak their interest. Find out what your niche wants and speak their language. WOW them constantly -  you want them to come back for MORE and participate in your community!

Traffic Geyser makes a big impact on your traffic, leads and sales. Viral video marketing is one of the hottest trends in online marketing.  In 2008, there were 155 million people in the US who viewed online videos and that number is expected to grow to 183 million by 2011. Video marketing is also a dynamic sales/advertising tool. Consumers are more likely to “take action” and buy a product or services after they’ve watched an online video.

The software is basic and user-friendly. Instead of scouring video sharing sites one at a time, Traffic Geyser allows you to upload one video and pass that file along to multiple video sharing sites (YouTube, etc.) at the same time.

Traffic Geyser boasts great search engine results.  According to Traffic Geyser, 70% of web users are more likely to click on organic searches (main searches as opposed to sponsored listings). Traffic Geyser helps your videos achieve top billing on organic search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN. Videos perform well with Traffic Geyser if you remember the following helpful tips:

Backlinks – If you backlink videos, you will see an increase in PR (PageRank) in search engines.

You don’t need a video camera in order to create dynamic videos. Remember that relevant content tied to your brand and company will boost your PR and attract backlinks.

So how will Traffic Geyser help your increase your site’s traffic and sales? Check out WHY you should use video marketing as part of your online marketing strategy:

Appeals to a MASS audience – You attract a LARGE VISUAL audience – MORE people who are visual learners as opposed to JUST readers!

Uses more than ONE sensory experience – Text only appeals to the eyes but videos is an engaging sensory experience that appeals to multiple senses – both sight and sound!

Easily accessible – With the popularity of hi-tech cell phones, PDAs, laptops, users can view videos anywhere, anytime – 24, 7!

Easy to create – You don’t need to be an AV expert. You only need a digital camera or movie maker software to create videos in no time at all.

Turn CONTENT into a VIDEO! – What better way to promote your content then through a video? Take your content and convert it into an engaging slideshow complete with dynamic audio/music!

Become an EXPERT in your niche – You are more likely to make a bigger impression on people when they can see YOU! You will become recognized in your field if people can put a name to a face. By producing impactful videos in your niche, you make a bigger impact on your targeted markets. Customers trust you more which leads to stronger relationship building!

I wrote an article for the Toilet Paper Entrepreneur’s blog about viral marketing. Check it out here: http://www.toiletpaperentrepreneur.com/blog/viral-marketing-how-to-use-viral-content-to-get-people-talking-about-you

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009 | Author: Zeke Camusio
megaphoneThe Internet has allowed us to achieve the unthinkable. Reach millions of viewers, increase sales by 200, nay 500%, and grow our business till it’s too big to fit in the garage, all for a minimum investment. We may not have the advertising might of giants like Nike, Honda, or Pepsi, but, thankfully, we don’t need it. With a budget of about 1,000 bucks (or even less!), we have the possibility to create a really great viral ad and implement a campaign that will bring us ROI beyond our wildest dreams. However, it’s not that simple. We still have to come up with this magnificent stroke of genius, the kind of ad or video that will have everyone talking, and spread faster that you can say, “Achoo!”.

If it is inspiration you seek, then take a look at these memorable viral campaigns. Hopefully, they´ll provide valuable lessons as to what kinds of things attract audiences, as well as insights into the kind of resources you can use to create a truly original viral ad.

1. The Million Dollar Homepage (www.milliondollarhomepage.com)
How many people smacked themselves on the head for not thinking of this? About a million? Alex Tew, its 21-year-old creator, made an initial investment of £50 on the domain name and a basic web-hosting package. Then, he proceeded to sell a pixel on his page for one dollar. The rest is history. He reached his goal of earning one million dollars and then some. Now, he’s selling 1000 limited edition poster prints (signed by Alex himself!) and offering an opportunity to “own a print of Internet history.”

2. Transport for London - Do The Test (www.dothetest.co.uk)
If you surprise the viewer, you will surely be successful in going viral, as shown by this brilliant ad developed by Transport for London. The campaign was created to increase safety for cyclists. It is tremendously effective in getting its point across. They have now launched a new awareness test on their website in a whodunit scenario.

3. Burger King - Subservient Chicken (www.subservientchicken.com)
A classic among viral campaign ads, this one allows you to “have it your way” with our feathered friend. It was created to promote Burger King’s Tender Crisp chicken sandwich, and the numbers prove it was highly successful in doing so. What makes it so deliciously viral is the interactivity; you send in a command in a message box and the chicken willingly obliges. There are more than 300 different commands that the chicken will act upon, thus entertaining the user for hours.

4. Blendtec - Will It Blend? (www.willitblend.com)
This is highly addictive stuff, folks! Watch Tom blend anything from iPods to a bag of marbles, and you’ll want more. Reportedly, Blendtec blenders sales increased by a whopping 800%. Sheer genius.

5. Smirnoff – Tea Partay (www.teapartay.com)
Watch these stereotypical preppy rich kids rap, and you’ll understand the ad’s viral power. By April 2007, it had more than 3 million hits on You Tube, and now has its own website.

6. Dove Evolution Video (www.campaignforrealbeauty.com)
One of the most talked about ads in recent years, it was an integral part of Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty. It has won awards, been discussed in mainstream TV programs, and the exposure generated by this spot has an estimated worth of 150 million dollars. It is inspiring in more ways than one.

7. Hotmail
No list of the most successful viral marketing campaigns would be complete without Hotmail’s emblematic campaign. All it took was a small ad attached to every outgoing email inviting the recipient to join, and in a very short time, Hotmail grew to mammoth proportions.

You’ve heard it before. Emulate; don’t imitate. Pray to the muses for inspiration and you just might make a cool million. Or at least get a million viewers.

null Mention the word “virus” on the Internet and you’ll most likely get people in a frenzy to update their antivirus software. But viral marketing is not dangerous to your computer or anyone else’s for that matter. Quite the contrary, it is the kind of frenzy you should seek to create: about your products or services. Viral marketing is a form of marketing where news about your products, services, or company are spread by word-of-mouth, very much like a virus. Believe me, this is one bug you’d like everyone to catch. As word of what you’re doing spreads like the flu, new customers naturally flock to your website to see what the hype is all about, thus boosting your chances of increasing profits.

Here are some great viral marketing strategies:

1) Offer Top Quality and Superior Customer Service
If viral marketing is about spreading the word, you have to give customers something to talk about, better yet, something to get excited about. Get satisfied customers to offer testimonials on your website to report on your fantastic product or top-notch customer service.

2) Write Insightful, Informative Articles
Write great articles about your niche market. Make them interesting and provide useful information. Don’t forget to use the right keywords. Finally post them on several article distribution sites. An interesting article will eventually end up all over the Web.

3) Allow People to Reprint Your Articles
Post your articles on your own website.  Include a resource box and the option to reprint at the bottom of each article. Encourage people to reprint your articles on their websites, in their e-zines, newsletters, magazines, or ebooks.

4) Offer Freebies
People are naturally drawn to free stuff. You can provide anything from a free consultation or trial to free screensavers, software, videos, or samples of your products.

5)  Allow Embedding
Allow users to easily embed your content on their own websites.

6) Allow Users to Recommend Your Site
Make it easy for visitors to bookmark and recommend your site by facilitating a link or “AddThis” button for social networking sites like Facebook, Digg, MySpace, Twitter, and YouTube.

7) Allow Downloading
Provide users with a simple way to download content from your website, in a usable format (PDF catalogs, videos, pictures, and whitepapers).

.8) Participate in Forums or Discussion Boards
You should especially use those which use signatures, thus allowing you to leave yours along with an interesting, informative post.

9) Encourage Comments
Provide your users with the chance to voice their opinion and share it with others. But don’t forget to comment back. It’s a great way to get a dialogue going and keep the fire burning.

10) Email Signature
Create an email signature as a mini-advertisement of your company. It shouldn’t be too long, just good enough to peak people’s interest and refer them back to your website. Make sure you contact others in your niche frequently by email and compliment them on their website or services, offer some advice or an opinion, or just ask a question.

11) Offer a Specialized Link Directory
Create a customized link directory of your link exchange partners; a fantastic way to direct targeted traffic to your website.

12) Get Incoming Links
Ask other sites in your niche market to link to yours. Contact site owners who provide services that compliment your own. The more popular a site is, the more traffic will be sent to your own site.

13) Use RSS Feeds
RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication”. RSS Feeds are used to automatically distribute articles or content to blogs, website owners, and ezine publishers.

14) Set Up an Affiliate Program
In affiliate programs, you pay affiliate websites a commission to send you traffic, in other words, these sites have a financial incentive to link to yours and everyone wins. These affiliate websites post links to your website and are usually paid for each sale or lead they bring you.

15) Never restrict access
I you want news about what you do to spread like a virus, access to it has to be free. Do not require people to register or become members to access information. This will only discourage them.
