If you have good spam filtering going on (Akismet if your are using WordPress) you should be well protected most of the spam. I rarely get a comment through to my blog that is spam. If a comment gets into spam with this filter, I can approve it. Try this out with different settings until you find the best fit for your blog, your readers and your topic.
