Approaching MLM prospects on Twitter

/ Question by Stephanie Valentine

I know this probably going to sound creepy, but I know that MLM thrives in a recession economy and I see tweets all the time about people getting laid off. Is there a way to bridge my opportunity with Twitter people who have been laid off without being totally insensitive? I wish to be appropriate yet take advantage of online opportunities I see appearing before me. I hope my question isn't too crass but I'm just getting started with social media sites like Twitter. In the past I've done only websites and blogs. Thanks!

I know that this is not the answer that you want to hear but I am totally against MLM. The reason why I feel like that is that those companies are more focused on bringing in new members to make you money than on selling products. The company owner always becomes rich and a few hopeless people lose money and time. I am sure there are exceptions but that's how most MLM companies operate.
